WAMY Academy Girls emerged as the overall winners of this year’s Annual Ramadhan Quiz Show, making history as the first girls’ school to clinch the title.

Khalifa bin Jasim secured second place in the highly competitive event, which attracted 32 schools and institutions from Nairobi and its surrounding areas. For the previous two years, Khalifa bin Jasim had dominated the competition, claiming the top position. Ghanim Al Mazrouq finished in third place.

The WAMY Academy Girls team—comprising Aisha Mohammed Ahmed, Nimo Abdi Abshir, and Ayan Hassan—demonstrated exceptional knowledge and confidence as they tackled questions on various Islamic themes. Led by Aisha Mohammed Ahmed, the team delivered an impressive performance in the thrilling contest aired live on Jamia TV, ultimately triumphing over Khalifa bin Jasim.

Now in its sixth year, the competition witnessed an impressive turnout of students who showcased their knowledge in a wide range of Islamic disciplines, including Fiqh, Qur’an, Tawheed, Hadith, Seerah, Tareekh, and the Arabic language.

Organized by the Jamia Mosque’s Da’wah Department in collaboration with its flagship television channel, Jamia TV, the Ramadhan Quiz Show forms part of ongoing efforts to promote da’wah and nurture Islamic knowledge among young people.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Jamia Mosque Committee (JMC) Da’wah Convenor, Sheikh Ibrahim Lethome, emphasized the importance of nurturing students with well-rounded knowledge across various aspects of Islam. He noted that such exposure equips them with the tools needed to better understand and appreciate their faith.

He observed that the Ramadhan Quiz Show plays a significant role in encouraging young Muslims to study different aspects of Islam.

“We need to equip students with knowledge in the various facets of Islam. For a long time, the focus has been on a narrow approach that limited learning to specific areas. I am pleased to see that this competition tests students across different fields of Islamic knowledge and helps build a generation that understands their religion comprehensively,” he said.

In his remarks, the Imam of Jamia Mosque, Sheikh Jamaludin Osman, advised young people to put into practice what they learn, emphasizing that Islamic teachings must be accompanied by practical application.

“For us to bring about meaningful change in society, knowledge and practice must go hand in hand. Make sure that you practice what you learn,” he said.

The Ramadhan Quiz Show, held annually during the holy month of Ramadhan, brings together students from across the country to test their understanding of Islamic teachings while promoting unity, learning, and healthy academic competition among the youth.
