Nyeri residents benefit from Ramadhan food support
The support has ensured that hundreds of families in Nyeri are able to observe Ramadhan with dignity and adequate nourishment.

Various organizations have stepped up food relief efforts in Nyeri during the holy month of Ramadhan, with several charities providing assistance to vulnerable families across the county.
The first major food relief this Ramadhan was organized by the Islamic Da'wa Group (IDG) on the first day of Ramadhan, when the organization distributed food support to families in need across Nyeri. The assistance helped many households secure essential food supplies as they began observing the fasting month.
The organization has played an important role to support community development initiatives in Nyeri, including assistance to local Islamic scholars and involvement in projects related to the development of Waqf properties.
Helping Hand for Relief and Development Africa also stepped in with additional assistance. The organization distributed food packages to 50 vulnerable families at Al-Falah Mosque. The beneficiaries received essential food items including wheat flour, maize flour and rice, targeting low-income households, widows and elderly members of the community who often face challenges meeting daily food needs during the fasting period.
The organisation runs other development initiatives in the county among them a vocational training facility for girls at Al-Falah Mosque, where students are trained in practical livelihood skills aimed at empowering young women with income-generating abilities.
The most recent food aid initiative was carried out by Direct Aid where the organization on Saturday distributed food support to 200 families in Ruring'u Muslim Village in Nyeri. The distribution helped families secure basic food supplies as Ramadhan moved toward its final stretch.
Direct Aid has also maintained involvement in the county through broader community support programs, including assistance in education and other welfare initiatives targeting vulnerable groups.
Community leaders say the coordinated efforts by the three organizations have significantly strengthened food support in Nyeri during Ramadhan. From the first day of the holy month through the later stages of the fasting period, the interventions by IDG, Helping Hand for Relief and Development Africa, and Direct Aid have ensured that hundreds of families in Nyeri are able to observe Ramadhan with dignity and adequate nourishment.
