Family appeals for help after abduction of Nairobi businessman
Abdi Aidid Ali, the proprietor of the Atis Suites hotel chain was abducted by unknown people on the evening of Saturday March 7, 2026.

Four days after the abduction of Nairobi businessman Abdi Aidid Ali, his whereabouts remain a mystery, sparking a passionate appeal from his family for information about his location.
The businessman, who is the proprietor of the Atis Suites hotel chain in Eastleigh and Parklands, is a respected figure in Nairobi’s business landscape, particularly in Eastleigh where he runs various business ventures.
He was abducted by unknown people on the evening of Saturday March 7, 2026, near the junction of Shauri Moyo Road and Mohamed Yusuf Haji Avenue in Nairobi as he was driving home after Taraweeh prayers, the special nightly prayers during Ramadhan. The businessman was reportedly stopped and abducted by armed, masked men in two Prado vehicles. The assailants bundled him into one of the vehicles and sped off to an unknown destination.
The son of the missing businessman, Jamal Abdi Aidid, said that even after reporting the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and local police stations, the family has not received any meaningful updates or communication from security agencies about his whereabouts.
“We have gone to all security agencies like the DCI, the local police, and any office we were able to reach, and we are not getting any information whatsoever,” he said during a press briefing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
“We are humbly appealing to the security agencies to tell us where our father is,” he added, describing the businessman as a law-abiding and well-respected individual who gave back to the community.
The family said the lack of information about his whereabouts has caused distress among relatives and friends.
“He is being held unlawfully; we do not know where he is, we do not know where he is being held, and no one has told us anything about him,” said Ahmed Hassan, a close family member.
Fafi MP Abdikarim Osman Mohamed expressed concern over the abduction, saying it raises serious issues about safety, due process, and the rule of law.
“We respectfully call upon the relevant security agencies and the government to urgently account for the whereabouts of Abdi Aidid Ali and ensure his immediate release if he is in custody, or to launch a swift and transparent investigation into his disappearance,” he said, reminding the authorities that President William Ruto had committed to ending enforced disappearances and abductions linked to security agencies.
